Childrens Worker - Womens Refuge

Due to the nature of this role we will only be able to progress applications from female applicants.

We’re looking for a compassionate and motivated Children’s Worker to support children and young people (up to age 16) living in our women’s refuge who may have experienced domestic abuse.

What You’ll Do

 

  • Provide one-to-one support and assess children’s emotional and practical needs
  • Deliver creative and therapeutic activities
  • Work alongside adult support workers to assist the whole family
  • Advocate for children at school, court and safeguarding meetings
  • Help families as they move on and resettle
  • Maintain accurate records and safeguarding processes
  • Work flexibly as part of a team.

 

About You

 

  • Experience working with children or vulnerable people (essential)
  • Understanding of domestic abuse and its impact
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate, engage and build trust
  • Willing to undertake further training as required
